In 1978, Lee Ru-ma (Korean:???; born February 15, 1978), best known by his stage as Yiruma (Korean:???), was born in Seoul, South Korea, and trained as a pianist and composer. Yiruma is a popular performer in Asia, Europe, and North America, where she regularly plays to sold-out crowds. His alma institution, King’s College London in England, was instrumental in helping him acquire fame and recognition across Europe. “River Flows in You,” “Kiss the Rain,” and “Maybe” are just a few of the songs that have been famous in recent years. Yiruma’s most successful album, First Love, was published in 2001 and has since become a classic. He started playing the piano at the age of five and went to London when he was eleven years old, in 1988, to pursue a degree in music at The Purcell School of Music in London. He was a dual citizen of South Korea and the United Kingdom until 2006, when he renounced his British citizenship in order to serve in the South Korean Navy.
