Ronald Louis Washington was born on April 29, 1952, in New Orleans, Louisiana. He is an American. Ron Washington used to play as a professional baseball shortstop.

He was a former player for the Los Angeles Dodgers, Minnesota Twins, Baltimore Orioles, Houston Astros and Cleveland Indians in the Major League Baseball.

Currently, Washington serves as the third base coach for the Atlanta Braves. Prior to that, he was manager of the Texas Rangers and helped the team to win the World Series in 2010 and 2011. He also coached in the New York Mets and Oakland Athletics organizations.
