Reportedly, he, a sophomore at Bowling Green State University, died of alcohol intoxication. He had attended a Pi Kappa Alpha new member initiation event held at an off-campus house, Bando, three days before his untimely passing.

The organizers made Stone drink a fifth (approximately 750 ml) of Evan Williams whiskey, which he finished in 18 minutes. After gobbling up that amount of alcohol, he vomited and had trouble walking. Then, at 11:23 p.m., Maddy called 911 as he stopped breathing and his face got blue.

Two minutes after, the paramedics took him to Wood County Hospital, then to Promedica Hospital, Toledo. After the drink, his blood alcohol content was .394 g/dL, and doctors couldn’t save him.

Following his death, his family fulfilled his wishes of becoming an organ donor, donating heart, lungs, liver, kidneys, and others.

After that, on 29 April 2021, eight men received hazing indictments, out of which six further got manslaughter charges in connection to the event. Jacob Krinn, Daylen Dunson, Troy Henricksen, Canyon Caldwell, Niall Sweeney, Jarrett Prizel, Aaron Lehane, and Benjamin Boyers were the accused.

Due to the incident, the university expelled Pi Kappa Alpha, and the Ohio General Assembly passed Collin’s Law on 6 July 2021.

Stone was born to Shari and Cory on 21 November 2000 as the oldest of their three children, including AJ and Jersee. An Ohio State Football and Basketball fan, he loved playing basketball and lacrosse.
