In a moving Instagram post, Mae Martin revealed that she is non-binary.

The actress and co-writer of Netflix’s Feel Good came out as transgender and said they prefer the pronouns they/them but “don’t mind” using she/her as well.

Martin is still very much on a personal path when it comes to their gender, they said, but they are prepared to be more outgoing about who they are to the public. They happily wore a binder for a recent picture session.

“The way I feel about my gender identification is continuing and growing, and it’s personal,” Mae Martin said in the caption. “But I felt it could be nice to state for clarity and in case anyone finds it useful.”

“I’m nonbinary; they/them and she/her are my pronouns (I love it when people say “they,” but I don’t mind at ALL when people say “she”).”
