American actor, Geoffrey Neigher has been reported dead. According to sources, he died of complications from cancer on August 10, 2023, at his home in Los Angeles.

Born in 1945, he graduated from Yale University and Yale Law School. After college, he moved to Los Angeles and partnered with Coleman Mitchell, working for MTM Enterprises on The Bob Newhart Show, Rhoda, Paul Sand in Friends and Lovers, and more.

Along with Coleman, he also wrote and produced the NBC comedy Gimme a Break! for its first two seasons. He was best known for writing and producing episodes of The Bob Newhart Show, Rhoda, and Murder One. 

Neigher shared an Emmy Award for Outstanding Drama Series for his work on Picket Fences along with David E. Kelley. He wrote and produced the show’s second and third seasons from 1993 to 1995. He also received an Emmy nomination for writing an episode of Northern Exposure, which he also produced during its fourth season from 1992 to 1993.

He worked on other movies and TV shows including The New Old Couple, We Got It Made, I Married Dora, Roomies, John Doe, Law & Order: Criminal Intent, and more.
